The Northeast ALS Consortium (NEALS) is an international, independent, non-profit group of researchers who collaboratively conduct clinical research in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neuron diseases. Our mission is to translate scientific advances into new treatments for people with ALS and motor neuron disease as rapidly as possible.
Working for a Cure: Translating Promising Science into Clinical Trials for Patients
The clinical research process is the only way that promising new science becomes treatments for people with disease. Our large membership passionately works with both academic investigators and companies to bring exciting science into clinical testing for ALS and motor neuron disease.
Conducting Quality Clinical Research in ALS
With the help of the ALS Association’s TREAT ALS program>>, NEALS has built the trial infrastructure needed to rapidly conduct clinical research in ALS. Our expertly trained research sites, investigators, and management staff help to relieve the burden of running a clinical trial. Our expertise can reduce the amount of time and money spent on clinical research so that we can find a cure faster.
Committed to Scientific Collaboration & Shared Resources
Sharing scientific resources is crucial to finding a cure. Over time NEALS has built an extensive ALS sample repository and maintained several trial databases. In the spirit of collaboration, we make our resources widely available to investigators conducting research in ALS.
Providing Information & Resources to Patient Communities
Patients and caregivers are incredibly important to the clinical research process. NEALS is committed to keeping the patient and caregiver communities well-informed about clinical research, trial opportunities, and scientific advancements world-wide.
