NEALS Trainings 9th Annual NEALS Meeting

NEW! Biostats Training Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 2:00-5:00 PM NEALS training for biostatisticians interested in ALS. The training will focus on statistical issues in studies of ALS. The training will cover issues pertaining to analysis methods, trial design, and observational studies.
Project Management Training Friday, October 29th, 2010 1:00-3:00 PM Training developed for Project Managers who act, or will be acting, as a "Coordination Center" to manage one or more multi-center investigator sponsored trials. Roles and responsibilities, with specific focus on managing activities during all phases of a clinical study including: protocol development, tasks prior to study start, active study start up, active study/maintenance, database lock, and study close out will be covered.
*This training will not cover site-specific topics for site study coordinators. Individuals interested in such topics are encouraged attend the "Site Management Training" session.
Site Management Training Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 12:00-2:00 PM Training developed for site investigators and study coordinator. The training will focus on: GCP compliance, organizational tools and tips, staffing needs, recruitment strategies and preparing for monitoring visits.
Outcomes Measurement Training Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 2:00-5:00 PM Training developed for NEALS Clinical Trial Evaluators. A review for current evaluators, and training for new evaluators, for the following outcome measure assessments: ALSFRS-R, Slow Vital Capacity, and Hand Held Dynamometry.
MUNE Training Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 12:30-2:00 PM Training developed for NEALS Clinical Trial Evaluators. A review for current evaluators, and training for new evaluators on Motor Unit Number Estimation (MUNE).
Electrical Impedance Myography (EIM) Training Friday, October 29th 2010 1:00 – 3:00 PM Training developed for NEALS Clinical Trial Evaluators and site investigators. Basic scientific background on this technique, hands-on training, and approaches to data analysis for this outcome measure will be provided. ATLIS Training Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 5:00-7:00 PM Training developed for NEALS Clinical Evaluators and site investigators. A review for current ATLIS users and training for those interested in this new device to measure isometric strength using a fixed dynamometer.
